Food addiction is most normally triggered by a psychological need, so you probably want to discover in the particular addict, what psychological need the food is fulfilling.

Food is often a replacement for love and attention, worthiness. Eating certain foods can release endorphines which produce a temporary emotional high, therefore overeating can often be caused by depression and addiction to that emotional high.

As far as I know, food is not a physical addiction like nicotine. It’s not “addictive” in the technical sense. Apart from the fact that you need to eat food to survive, of course!

The cure for food addiction is one thing..will power.
Sure wished that there was a patch / or medication like the one they use for cigarette smoking.
You might try and see your Dr – to see if he can give you something to curb your appetite.

Only remedy is to say ” NO “, always. Initial it is very difficult to say no, but has to be practised. Good luck.

No, there is no magic pill or patch to help with food addiction, wouldn’t that be nice though! Haha. There are certain pills that help supress appetite altogether, but none for specific foods. From what we have learned in class, the best way to break an addiction, say to sugar, or some other food, is to avoid it completely. This will be extremley hard because your body will crave it. If you can make it through these cravings tho, you are home free. Good luck!

They are working on a vaccine that might help you maintain weight loss after you loss it. Other than that you can allows eat as much as you want as long as you spend all the calories and dont save them in the “fat” bank. In otherwords, Dont sit around watching TV all the time. Go for long walks, bowling, biking or any number of other activities. Just be active.

Perhaps you could switch to a “health addiction,” while working through the real, underlying issues (a journal or therapy). Redirect your “need” to be in great shape, fuel a high metabolism and feed yourself high quality health food.

It comes from trying to fill an emotional void (empty space) with food, a practice which is bound to fail. See http://www.emotionalhealth.ivillage.com/ (.ivillage.com/) & http://www.oa.org Phone: 1800 931 2237. The relaxation methods at http://www.ezy-build.com/~shaneris on page 2: depression, can help, and therapy as well. See a doctor and ask for a referral.

May be your addiction is caused by medical condition(like diabetes or worms in the digestive track, liver diseases ).
If you don’t have any digestive problem( constipation)
Try to consume food that has complex carbohydrate( like basmate rice .pizza)
