Honestly, Why Is Weed Illegal?

Question by Pretty Blunt.: Honestly, why is weed illegal?
I’ve been taught all my life its bad, addictive, and will kill you. In fact, I had to break it off with my first boyfriend because I found out he was a stoner and my parents told me to end it. Well, ok… I know smoking anything is bad for your throat, and weed CAN cause cancer… and its mind altering so you shouldn’t drive, but honestly. Why is it illegal?? Why is it considered a drug?

I’ve never smoked weed and don’t really plan on it because the stoners at my school don’t really excel… i’m just curious

My parents never give me a good reason. “It’s addictive” (Not really… my moms diet pepsi is more addictive) “It causes cancer” (So does the discontinued shampoo i use…) “Same effects as drinking” (Uh, stoners are chill and peaceful, drunks are angry and crazy)

Thoughts?

Weed cannot cause cancer. Period. Any amount of harm that weed would cause would come from smoke. not the actual chemicals in it.
