Question by ghost: A question about drama, and a 96 hour hold that lasted around 20 days?
I left a group home because I was threatened with retribution for writing their superiors. First blood was drawn when I simply asked for my fioricet (for migraines) at the proper time. A lady who resembles John Denver, simply told me no. I had a gan mal seizure a few days before, and I could hardly stand my head ache. I threatened to call 911, and then got my medication.
I wrote “John Denvers” top boss. This resulted in the CMA’s getting together and talking to the one nurse on duty. That nurse has a heart of dirt, and spits snake venom. She threatened to cut off all of my narcotics, and put me in a drug program. I threatened suicide, and went on a “96 hour hold”.
During my stay in the psychiatric hospital, I received all of my pain medication for my headaches, backaches, and a Duke grad, seasoned psychiatrist upped my benzos. I was still upset though, so I called and reported correctly, the group home that had done me wrong. I was then stripped of my department of mental health funding, and facing a shelter. I was able to move back home with my mom, which was very nice of her.
What does this story say of group homes? They are nasty places, with CMA’s who are on parole for drugs, and handing out controlled medication. They don’t want to pass out PRN’s so they can take em themselves.
Any comments on this system?
Also, any advice on how I can change my life? I have serious mental health issues, but I am a nice person.

I am sorry that I don’t know anything about group homes but I would think that if they are run by the state that this would be common. State employees have jobs for life and can do whatever they want. I know that many times people who apply and work for the group homes have their own agenda which is to abuse their authority. They feel powerful. This is such a sad thing and thank goodness for your mom. If you are in the States they can’t take away your disability unless you are not taking your medications. I know you are a nice person and you never deserved this kind of treatment. Now I understand why you are taking the Fiorecet. If you can appeal this I hope you will start immediately. I don’t think that a decision this serious can continue without your being able to appeal the decision.
Find out about how you can appeal. Also it is against the law in every state and every land for medications to be given by anyone but medical personnel. You can find the phone number for your local chapter and call them. They offer support, references to the best mental health care in your area and usually their are some that are free. You also need to tell them what happened to your disability and they can direct you as to what you can do. Possibly are you on your mother’s medical insurance, with that you can get the help you need. You are special and deserve the best that can come to you.
